FAQ
Do I still need mobile data or Wi-Fi when using a VPN?
Yes. A VPN does not replace your phone's internet connection. It works as an encrypted tunnel built on top of your existing network connection.
That means:
- If you are using mobile data, the VPN works through your mobile data connection.
- If you are using Wi-Fi, the VPN works through Wi-Fi.
- If your phone has no internet access at all, the VPN cannot connect either.
A VPN encrypts and routes your traffic. It does not replace your carrier connection, and it cannot give you internet access when the device itself is offline.
If you are a new user, we recommend using the latest 5UF VPN app for a simpler and more stable experience.
Why pay for 5UF VPN when there are free proxies?
Many sites offer free proxies or “free VPN” tools. Paid services like 5UF fund real servers, support, security updates, and long-term reliability. This article explains our value in more detail—please refer to the Chinese page for the full text.
